Top lip colours for winter

Top lip colours for winter

Hi beauties!

So in New Zealand winter is coming up, and I thought I would share my top 5 lip colours for the winter, including a mix of some darker berry reds, and some pinky nudes, as well as lipsticks and lip glosses, just to mix it up a bit.

First up is a beautiful nudey pink, thats a bit your-lips-but-better. This is Gerard Cosmetics in buttercup, and I am super in love with colour and wear it most days. Its also one of those colours you don't have to worry about going everywhere. The photo is not really true to colour, making it seem a lot more orange.

This next lipstick is Mac pink plaid in a matte formula, and my absolute go to lipstick. it's perfect to dress up a look a little, but its still really natural looking, and does not budge.

Another Gerard cosmetics, but this time it's the Kylie Jenner lip colour, 1995. I am a huge fan of Jaclyn Hill, and love this colour. I think the one I received is a bit darker than it is supposed to be, but I love it for a deeper winter lip look.

Next up is a lipgloss, which I have just recently discovered and am in love with. This is Rimmel London Provocolips. It has the gloss at one end, which is a beautiful shade, and a lock and shine gel on the other end. now i'm not usually a fan of glosses but this gel makes the gloss dry like a lipstick while feeling really secure but not drying in the least. It actually feels super light-weight on the lips and is AMAZING. I totally recommend this lip gloss.

Another Rimmel London gloss, and this colour is to die for. the perfect winter red lip, its the Apocolips in 400 'big bang'. the colour is amazingly opaque, true to form, and really moisturising and hydrating for the lips which is a must have in winter.

These lip colours are wearable for every season, not just winter!

The best of the Primers

Best of the Primers

Hey Beauties!

So one product I've been really appreciating lately are primers, with this awful wind and rainy weather we've been having (It's almost winter in New Zealand at the moment!). As such I thought I would share with you some of my favourite primers, that range in prices to suit all budgets.

First up is a cult favourite, the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer which is oil free, and the large version comes in a 30ml tube, although I do believe smaller sizes can be purchased. This retails for around $45NZD, so on the pricey side, but I cannot get enough of it. The formula is super light weight, really soft on the skin and does a great job of keeping my make-up from sliding off my face. It's also a clear formula and has lasted forever. The easy screw on lid is handy as well as it ensures I get the right amount of product I want, and is not a pain to undo everyday. Overall I absolutely recommend this product

Total rating: 10/10

Next up is the Loreal Paris Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer, which comes in a 20ml tube, and retails for $45NZD at Farmers, but I picked mine up for $15NZD on fishpond, although I'm not sure if its still available. The primer comes in a pump tube which is really handy, and has a white, shimmery finish to it which acts as a highlighter, and gives a really beautiful finish. Perhaps the only thing to watch out for with this primer is that if you aren't after a dewy, shimmer finish it may not be for you. Otherwise this a great product.

Total rating: 8/10

The Rimmel London Lasting finish, skin perfecting Primer is up next and claims to increase foundation wear for up to 8 hours, which although it doesn't reach 8 hours, it does get pretty close. This is the cheapest of the primers, retailing for around $15NZD from memory, however I picked it up in a deal as a free purchase. I really love this primer in that it is an affordable price, but is still great quality. It comes in a 30ml bottle, so a lot of product for money, and comes out in a white finish with a screw top lid. One of the only downfalls of this product is that because it is more of a runny texture it comes of the bottle quite fast, and as a result a bit of product ends up pooling in the lid making it a bit messy. However it is still a great product!

Total rating: 7/10

Honourable mentions:

I only have a sample of this but I am so in love I might have to purchase the full size of Mac's prep and prime, it does an amazing job!

This Jordana eye primer is super cheap, i believe it was $1USD?!, but does an amazing job priming the lids, and has a beautiful dusky purple sheen to it, to which the photos don't do justice.

The Best of Rimmel

The Best of Rimmel

Now I personally have had a few issues with Rimmel, but there is something about the Rimmel London line that I love. They have some really great quality products, at affordable prices.

Lipsticks
I've only tried the Rimmel London Kate Moss lipsticks in the shades 31 and 32, and they are amazing! The formulas are creamy, once smelling and have great colour pay off, as well as being really affordable, I picked mine up from Feel Unique), but they can also be purchased at Farmers. I have also heard a lot of other people rave about the other shades these lipsticks come in.

Concealer

I am really enjoying the Rimmel London wake me up concealer (in the shade 010 Ivory), with its creamy formula and wand applicator. The formula is smooth and well- covering and also has a really pleasant feel to it. It also does really well covering under-eye circles, and I believe I purchased mine for around $18NZD at Farmers, but it can probably be found cheaper elsewhere.

Foundation

I recently picked up the Rimmel London Match Perfection, SPF 18 foundation in the shade 081, Fair Ivory. Its a great foundation for those days where you don't want to be wearing to much, as it gives a light to medium coverage. It spreads well and has a super handy pump (which is a real selling point!). The only downside to this foundation is that it comes in a  limited number of shades, and tends to stick to lighter skin tones. I got mine for $23NZD, which is a pretty good deal for foundation in New Zealand.

Primer

I also picked up the Rimmel London Lasting Finish primer, to go along with my other purchases. The Rimmel stand had a buy two get one free offer, so I managed to score this for free (Hooray!), otherwise its around $17NZD. This primer comes with a really generous  amount, more than a lot of other primers. It's white based, obviously goes on clear, and spreads really smoothly across the skin. It's done a pretty good job keeping my foundation on, and helps me to apply easier as well. For how much you get in the bottle, its a real winner in my books!

I will definitely be picking up some more Rimmel London products in the future!
