HOW TO: Using green concealer

Using green concealer

Hi beauties!

I feel as though green concealer is one of those products that comes back in and out of popularity, and leaves a lot of people questioning the correct way to apply it. The following is the way I have found works best, and would recommend!

The green works to cancel out redness on the face, especially around the nose and rosy cheek area (of course everyone is beautiful with redness as well, you are beautiful the way you are!) Apply it as you would a concealer (you can do this before or after foundation, dependant on how much coverage you require). If you are using it to cancel the redness of a fresh spot or acne, I would recommend taking a bit on your finger, or using a brush you plan to wash, as this prevents the spread of acne and bacteria.

After application, blend out and place concealer overtop to blend the green out, so it doesn't look unusual. If you are having trouble tracking one down try online!

Creating a base for your face | Foundation, Concealer and Powder routine

Creating a base for your face

Hi beauties!

So lately I've had a lot of people ask me how to correctly set their face so that their foundation lasts for longer, applies easier and so they don't need to replace their foundation as often. This is the method that i use everyday and would recommend if you find yourself struggling with any of these issues!

Step 1: Pore Control

The first step I take when putting on my make up (after moisturiser) is to put on a pore filler to smooth over pores and make foundation application easier.

Step 2: Primer

I really recommend a primer for those who find their foundation doesn't last long enough, or they end up using too much product, too fast. Primers are also a great way to protect the skin from all the products you put on it.

Step 3: Foundation

I personally prefer a flat top brush for applying foundation as I find them the most effective, easiest and that it leaves the nicest finish. When applying foundation try to make sure you apply evenly and leave no obvious streaks or overuse the product. Alternatively, if you find a foundation too heavy, or are looking for a lighter day look, I would suggest a BB cream, which you can apply in much the same manner as foundation.

Step 3:Concealer

A very important point with concealer is to put it on after foundation, as putting it on before is pretty ineffective, and just ends up in an overuse of product, but this is a very easy mistake to make!

Step 4: Powder

Powder is a really important step in creating a base, and should be applied after foundation/concealer (although some people do prefer to apply after blush, bronzer, ect). Powder should be used to set everything in place, and helps to keep your liquid products from moving. If you find you have trouble keeping your foundation from creasing or settling into fine lines I absolutely suggest a powder. If you find a powder adds more coverage than you are looking for, try a translucent powder!

Hope this helps, and thanks for reading!

 |  Benefit Minis |

Hi Beauties!

So recently I picked up a few goodies online in the Benefit sale (I was very impressed with the fast shipping) and wanted to share them with you. I wanted to pick up some mini products as not only were they a great price but it also gave me the opportunity to try a lot of their products without purchasing full size and regretting. If you have never tried Benefit before (as they are a little pricey), i would recommend grabbing a pack like this to see if you like it first!

-Ooh la lift under eye brightener
-The professional primer
-The gal brightening face primer
-It's potent eye cream
-Hoola bronzer
-Bella Bamba brightening face powder
-They're real mascara

I also picked up radiant skincare pack for $18USD, which contains the following (side note: is the packaging not super beautiful?)

Triple perfuming face moisturiser
-It's potent eye cream

-Moisture prep toning lotion
-Foaming facial wash

Overall I was really happy with these packs, am loving the products so far and it gives me a chance to try out a lot of new benefit items!

Winter Necessities

Winter Necessities

Hi Beauties!

I hope all those of you experiencing winter at the moment are keeping warm! It's currently winter here in New Zealand, which is pretty evident by my dry hands and cracked lips. However, I have been on the hunt for the best solutions to these pesky winter issues and hope some of these things can help!

The Body Shop hand creams

The Body Shop have recently brought out quite a few new hand creams in some of there most popular scene and I am super obsessed with the wild rose one as well as the strawberry scent. Not only do these smell divine (seriously, the strawberry one makes me hungry!), but they make your hands super duper moisturised and hydrated. I'm a pretty big fan of The Body Shop due to the fact that they don't test on animals, and are also supporters of ethical trade and being environmentally friendly. From memory, I believe all of their hand creams are retailing for $12.70NZD, which is pretty descent for how much product you receive!

Blistex lip balm

This ones an oldie but a goodie! I have tried many different types of lip balms over the years aimed at healing my damaged winter lips, but I've found Blistex to be the only one that really works, having a super amazing effect on cracked lips, but also wind burn. I have to admit it does;t win the prize for nicest scent, and is a bit tingly on the lips, but I guess that means its working, right? For $7.50NZD its pretty high up on my essentials list.

Knitted headband

This ones a little bit different, but I have recently been really loving the knitted headbands that have begun to grow in popularity once again. Glassons have quite a few different styles available at the moment, which is where I picked mine up for $12NZD, which is a pretty reasonable price. I really love these because the keep my ears and head snuggly and warm but it means I don't need to go all out with a beanie. They look pretty cute too!

Patterned socks!

Another one thats a bit random but obviously your going to  need socks for winter, right? Kmart have been coming out with some really adorable patterns lately that are incredibly affordable at only $2NZD a pair. Obviously I'm a bit obsessed with them I have not only the pugs, bunnies and gingerbread men, but have also brought many pairs for everyone else I know just an excuse to buy some more.

What are some of your beauty fav's for winter?

Thanks for reading :)
