Recent purchases

Recent Purchases

So guilty confession, I recently hit up the make-up sale and picked up the following items:

Batiste Dry Shampoo

I absolutely  love Batiste-its my go to, and so I quite happily picked up a full size can for $8 in the scent fruity and cheeky cherry.

Rimmel lipstick

This Rimmel lipstick was such a bargain, at just $5, I couldn't refuse! This one is in the shade 340- to nude or not to nude? Its a nice sheer pinky-red.

Huggies baby wipes

This may seem like quite an odd purchase, but I find these are hands down the best wipes to use in place of make-up wipes. They are soft, smell great and are sensitive-as well as doing a great job removing make-up when I'm feeling to lazy to do it properly. These were $2.50 each, or 2 for $4, so of course I grabbed 2 packs!

Eos hand lotion

I am super excited about this purchase! I have wanted to grab an Eos hand balm for aggeesss, but its super hard to find in New Zealand. So when I found this I snapped it up in the scent cooling cucumber for $9

Posh finishing powder/bronzer brush

This brush was $12, my most expensive purchase, but still a a really good price for  a make-up brush. I had never heard of this brand before, but the bristles are super soft, its a great shape for bronzing and seems to be great quality, as well as picking up a lot of product on application.

So there we have it-I was pretty restrained in my purchases this time round.

GiftGuide | 3 Stocking Stuffers for the beauty lovers

Gift Guide

With it being so close to christmas I thought I would share a few Beauty presents for those of you who have left your gift shopping to the last minute, or have no clue what to  get the make-up junkie in your life (although lets be honest, if your here, you're probably the make up addict!) ;)

1. Nail Polish kit

The first wee stocking stuffer is the Ciate mini paint palette, which I picked up for $20NZD from 1Day sale. If you live overseas (i.e not New Zealand, or Australia), you can probably pick it up for a much better price. This kit comes in the cutest pink gift set, and has 8 different mini-polishes (which are actually a really good size). With a mix of a few glitters, metallic and bold christmas colours (The deep red is perfect for christmas!) this kit is a great gift. It obviously doesn't have to be something super similar to this kit however, and any nail kit- pre-made or one that you put together yourself- can make a really thoughtful gift.

Ciate also do some really great other sets which you can check out here

2. Mini Make-up

Anything little and undersized automatically becomes super cute, and this Too Faced mini bronzer and Kabuki brush kit is the perfect example. A lot of mini-me cult favourites emerge in the holiday season, and as such they are a great opportunity for gifts that top off a present, smaller gifts for friends, or an adorable stocking stuffer. The thing that makes this Too Faced 'Tan without the Twinkle' Matte kit even better as it has the signature chocolate soleil scent.

I grabbed this Too Face kit from Sephora, for around $8 USD.

3. Make-up brushes

Now this gift can become expensive pretty fast, but if  you look in the right places you can get an amazing deal on amazing products. For a make-up brush kit thats not too overwhelming,  check out bossy cosmetics brush kit which is really affordable at $25NZD (Currently on Sale!!) and free shipping within New Zealand for a limited time (better hurry!) Bossy also do some great brush cleansing options. Check them out here!

Or of your looking to get a pretty full brush set as a main gift for that lucky someone, check out kits such as Real techniques (which you can get for a steal on IHerb), or xoBeauty.

I hope this gave you a few idea, good luck with your gift shopping and happy holidays!

Where to find affordable, good quality brushes

Affordable and quality brushes

Often some of the best things can be found in the last places we think to look. This can certainly said for make up brushes. Many sets and individual brushes, especially the likes of mac, stigma and bars brushes can be super pricey. However, I have found brush sets on eBay and Aliexpress that are amazingly soft, great quality and under $10NZD!

These brushes are great at applying product, don't hold too much loose powder, and are easy cleaning, I believe I grabbed all these above for $8NZD, which is an absolute bargain! And on top of all that-free shipping! Brushes of this type are available in all different sizes, brush types, set sizes and colours on the following sites :

Quick tips:
For the best of eBay make sure to pop the search into lowest price and shipping, select new items only and buy now rather than auction.
For Aliexpress make sure you are only buying on set off brushes, not 5!

I hope this has helped you out, and you no longer feel the stress of $60 per brush!
